Recycling old candle jars

I love candles and always tend to keep the empty jars because they are just too nice to throw away. Now I've found a way to give them a new life and are also great gifts

Step 1. Give them a clean

I usually pour in boiling water into the jars to about 0.5cm from the top. 10 minutes later give them a stir with an icy-pole stick or skewer and allow to cool completely. A layer of wax should come to the top and be easily removed.

Step 2. Bottom Layer

Glue some small gravel to the bottom using any type of clear craft glue. There are no rules for how much. Do what feels right and gives a good proportion for the size of the jar.

Step 3. Add some grass

I grab fake grass and moss from discount variety stores as they tend to be better value. Add some larger rocks as well. I grab larger rocks and stones from the hardware store in 2kg bags.

Play around with the design until you're happy.

Step 4. Trees and flowers

Add some flowers and plants. Once again mine are purchased from various small discount stores. I try to purchase large bunches and cut them into smaller pieces. Then I make little bunches and dig them into the bottom gravel layer to achieve stability. Add some more glue if necessary.

Step 4. Additional decorations

I always add another little decoration like an animal. These are little resin or plastic decorations. Completely optional.
